Two elders sit the family down by the fire and tell the whole story in thirty songs — the root, the crossing, the branches, the culture, and the return. Heard in order it is one continuous story. Any single song still stands alone.

The telling opens at the source — Africa before the crossing: Kemet, the Nile, Mali, the drum. It carries through the crossing, told with grief and dignity and the proof of what survived. Then the branches, place by place, each in that home's own sound: Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, Brazil, Colombia, the American South and North, Britain.
Then the proof — food, rhythm, style, invention: the family recognizing itself across every border. And then the return: the root rising now, the family building, the children taught, the circle closed.
History with receipts. Grief and grievance may visit — they never get the last word.
Every Friday, for thirty weeks.
Friday is global release day, and we already own Family Friday — each week's song premieres inside that slot. One song a week, thirty weeks, five movements. Starting Friday, 27 November 2026, the finale lands on Friday 18 June 2027.
The elders who carry it.
Eleven songs are his. Twelve are hers. Seven they sing together — the pillars: the opening fire, the drum, the table, the thesis, the house, the finale.
Father of the Black Land. A man about seventy, built like someone who has both carried stone and carried children. He smiles more than he scolds, and his hands tell half the story.
He carries the battles, the building, the receipts — Kemet, Haiti, the South, ownership, and the answer to the looking-down.
Mother of the Nile. A woman in her middle sixties whose face holds grief and joy in the same expression. She has fed people, planted things, buried things, and still dances.
She carries the mothers, the crossing, the healing, the modern root — the queens, the lament, the seeds, Lagos, Sankofa.
Baba Khem and Nanny Nile are AI-voiced characters created by Khemet Incorporated. On screen they are simply The Griot and The Griotte.
Five movements. Thirty songs.
